Day 10 - 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge: What Has Helped You Become More Of Who You Are?
I’m sitting here on my couch and I’ve been staring at the ceiling for what feels like hours but really has only been 15 mins. Today’s journal prompt is: What has helped you become more of who you are? The prompt made really have to look inside myself and think hard what my answer was.
So what has helped me become more of who I am today?
My failures. I failed a finance subject in university three times. Not one, twice but three times! It actually set me back a full year because I decided to take another 6 months off to have a break from studying. If I didn’t fail that third time, I probably would’ve not been sitting here or had the experiences that I’ve had with my career. Other failures in my life have actually helped me rise into something better. I do believe each time you fall, the universe is actually giving you something amazing when you rise up.
The people in my life (even the ones that aren’t part of it anymore). This one isn’t so depressing as it sounds. I believe that each person that comes into your life, they’re here to teach you something. And for every single lesson I’ve learnt from each relationship, it’s shaped the person I am today or it has made me the better person I’ve become. Just like any human on this Earth, I’ve had relationships (either platonic or romantic) and I’ve lost them. Once the pain of them leaving has healed, it’s then I actually realise why they came into my life that turns the heartbreak into a blessing. I feel quite grateful even if the relationship was not a positive one. But then again, my personality is an ENFJ, so compassion is my forte.
Wow today’s gratitude entry was probably the most vulnerable I’ve felt so far in this challenge!
