Splurge vs Save: Models Own Golden Sand Highlighter & Fenty Beauty Killawatt Duo Highlighter
Welcome to another edition of "Splurge vs Save", where I compare drugstore (affordable) beauty product to its similar luxury/high street sister.
This edition we are comparing the Models Own Golden Sands Highlighter with the Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Duo Highlighter. The Fenty version does contain two different shades, but I feel like the colours have a close match to the Models Own version.
Models Own Golden Sand Highlighter
The packaging is very much the same as the Model's Own Sculpt & Glow Matte Bronzing Powder, which I did a comparison with its similar sister, Benefit's Hoola Bronzer. If you wanted to check that out, you can here.
It comes in a small compact which is made out of plastic but super sturdy. It comes with a handy small sized mirror.
The product itself is a beautiful off pink shimmery highlight. It's super pigmented and I love spraying my brush before applying the highlight for an intense glow!
This would suit any skin tone and would look so beautiful on dark skin tones.
You can purchase Models Own at any Priceline store. The price of the highlight powder is $16.95AUD which I think is a fantastic price for the quality and pigmentation!
It's definitely a bargain and I'd recommend this product if you're looking for an affordable highlight but doesn't compensate on the intense glow!
Fenty Beauty Killawat Freestyle Highlighter Duo
For the purposes of this comparison, I have the duo in Lighting Dust & Fire Crystal.
The Fenty Beauty highlight duo comes in a white plastic compact. Super sturdy and it's in an interesting octagon shape.
A handy mirror is provided which is always a plus!
The highlight powders are a beautiful shimmery pink. One side (shade: Lighting Dust) has that lit from within glow when you apply it to the skin and the other (shade: Fire Crystal) shows a more noticeable pop of shimmer on the cheeks.
You can purchase Fenty Beauty at any Sephora store. It retails for $50AUD which I feel is definitely on the more high street price range. But I believe it's worth every penny because of the pigmentation & quality! I love using it and it's currently in rotation with my other favourites.
Which is better?
For this edition, I love both! They're both fantastic in their own right and the price of these products aren't that bad.
I can't choose between them! I definitely recommend that you try both or just one. You won't be disappointed!
If you want to treat yourself than definitely the Fenty Beauty highlight. If you're not too fussed, I'd go with the Models Own version to save some cash money!
