You Can't Go On A Flight Without These Things
What happens to our skin when we fly?
Your skin is comfortable with a humidity level of 40 to 70 per cent. When you're flying the air cabin's pressure goes down to 20 per cent which is more than half to what your skin requires. Due to the dip in humidity, your skin becomes dehydrated and then you are left with dry, red and flakey skin.
But I notice I get quite oily and dry at the same time or either?
Yes! This can certainly happen. Because your skin is freaking out and starts to dry out, your oil glands will try to compensate by overproducing oil.
So you're definitely not the only one who would suffer from a combination of dry, flaky and oily skin when on a flight.
Products you can't go without on a flight
If you're like us, we go a little extra and wear makeup on a flight to look fab. Making sure you remove your makeup on a flight will help prevent any nasty breakouts. The reason being due to the low humidity of the air in the flight mixing with your makeup is not a great concoction!
Try this: Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes. Easy to carry, no water and you can dispose of them easily!
Sheet masks are easy to carry and easy to use. Pick a sheet mask to take with you on a flight that is going to be moisturising and going to let your skin soak in a lot of hydration. This will help with the dryness and keep your skin plump.
Try this: Garnier Hyrdra Bomb Tissue Masks, my favourite is the Blue Pomegranate mask
There is nothing refreshing than a spritz of your favourite facial mist on the skin, especially in hot weather.
Purchase a travel size so it's easy to carry and small enough for your carry-on. An extra boost of your facial mist will help your skin soak in moisture that the air cabin has sucked dry.
Try this: Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater. Rosewater is great for the skin because it contains anti-inflammatory benefits which reduces irritation on the skin caused by dry skin.
Your eye area is super sensitive and the skin it quite thin. Definitely show some love to this area by applying an eye cream. Use an eye cream that will help gently moisturise the area and help with anti-ageing.
Try this: Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream, highly moisturising and it's super affordable for the quality!
Choose a facial oil that will help calm your skin down and cure dryness. Just like a moisturiser, an oil is more concentrated and it's primary purpose to give your skin some love when it's getting all flakey! A few drops to replenish the skin after a mask and your facial mist will do the job!
Try this: My favourite oil to travel with is the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil. Argan Oil helps nourish and balance the skin out.
To lock the oil in, I like to use a moisturiser straight after. Using a moisturiser that is right for skin type, so just use your favourite one and perhaps transfer it to a travel size container. Your favourite moisturiser may have a travel size too!
Try this: Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre, super thick and has a lovely pleasant smell.
I'm a lip balm addict and I don't care! I love using lip balm to care for the lips and mine get quite cracked when I travel.
Try this: Carmex Lip Balm Strawberry Click Stick, easy to carry and it has an amazing strawberry flavoured scent for kissable lips.
